Trekking in El Bolsón

The area to the South of Rio Negro offers many alternatives for trekking. El Bolsón is famous for receiving a great number of young tourists, given the variety of alternatives for adventure tourism.

Some of the beautiful alternatives that El Bolsón has for tourism are:

·         Cerro Piltriquitrón (2260 meters): This is located at 11km from the urban center. Then there is a 3 km ascent to reach the shelter.

·         Cerro Amigo: At only 2 km from the center of El Bolsón.

·         Cajon Del Azul: The Rio Azul has to be towards the mountain rang. 10 km at a narrow section of the river there is a shelter.

·         Hielo Azul: This trail can be done on foot or horseback. An intese adventure with the possibility of climbing frozen walls. A guide is advisable on this excursion.

·         Cerro Lindo and Lago Tricolor:  If you want to climb, take the necessary equipment. There is a shelter where you can sleep (take sleeping bag), and meals are available. You must report your itinerary to the shelter´s manager. The ascent takes a good six hours from the camp at Río Azul. A guide is recommended to enjoy and get to know the area better. There are also guided excursions on horseback.

·         Cerro Perito Moreno: This is the ski center at El Bolsón. 20 km from the city. In summer you can take a walk around the shelter and enjoy a fine restaurant.

·         Cerro Tres Picos: It is the highest of the area: 2945 m. For experts only.
