Kayaking in Lago Puelo

There is a wide range of water activities that can be developed in Lago Puelo, from scuba diving to windsurfing, but perhaps, one of the most interesting, easy and accessible is kayaking. In a Kayak you feel like sitting on water. Since you are the motor of the ship you decide where you want to go, it’s all up to you, there’s no limit but yourself. This sport is by far the best way to discover this gorgeous lake.

However, there are a few recommendations you should follow so as to make the activity more pleasant. First of all, never go alone, though most kayaks are for a single rower, it’s advisable to paddle in groups. You should also bear in mind your own limitations, learning to paddle is an easy process but you must take your time to learn it.

If you are starting to discover this sport, I recommend visiting the webpage http://www.kayakpaddling.net/. The webpage is in more than 15 languages and in it you can find practical animated tutorials about kayak paddling. It covers from the essentials, from getting in and out of the kayak up to recovery skills, such as the eskimo roll.

It’s important to plan your route, remember to start paddling against the wind, because the return will be easier, take into account the fact that in Lago Puelo, the wind is generally western. And avoid going through the lake, it’s dangerous, try to go close to the coast line.

El Bolson: Wonderful also in winter

El Bolsón  can be enjoyed all the year round.
In winter, there are a lot of activities that you can do, like skiing in Cerro Perito Moreno. There you'll find a shelter where you can find a quite nice coffeshop.
You can go skiing in a bus that goes to the mountain in the morning and brings you back to the town at the end of the day.
The summit of the mountain is 2.216 meters above sea level, and it has  a wonderful native vegetation.
It posseses a snow park which offers, rent of equipments besides clothes for skiing, and snowboarding.
Other activities that you can practise are:alpine ski, snowboarding, trekking and snow games.

Enjoy your holidays in an amazing place

If you want to have an amazing holiday, and you are looking for a quiet place, El Bolson is the best idea.

Here, in El Bolson, you'll find hostels, and also a lot of activities to spend the day. One of these can be to visit the local crafts market, it has a lot of things to buy for family or friends like vitraux, jewellery, knives, paintings, clocks, food.
I once went rafting in Rio Azul river and enjoyed it very much, so i would recommend it for tourist. It is a very interesting activity for young people and the adventurares type.
If you want to have a day more related with nature, you can go camping.  In El Bolson and its surroundings , you can find a lot of places to camp like Camping Rio Azul, Camping Lago Puelo,  Camping El Manso. There, you can fish and also you have a beautiful view of the mountain, and it's wonderfull native vegetation.
An other activity that it's related with the lakeside activities, is Kayaking.  This is practise in Lago Puelo, and everybody in the family can do it.
I would not recommend El Bolson to young adults since there are no shoppingmalls, cinemas, discos.

Downhill extreme.

                            Downhill extreme.

Summer is approaches. So it’s time to catch your bike and your helmet. And start with this amazing season in a place for all family, in a place with some difficulty levels. One of the most complicates tracks in Argentina. With a slope of inclination about 80 grades. This is the best mountain bike park that you can imagine to make downhill. We are talking about “catedral Bike Park”.

Catedral bike park offers you a lot of tracks to make downhill and a lot of terrains, right here you can found, rock tracks with an expert level of difficult or smooth tracks with a big slope of inclination, and if you don’t like downhill you have a 4x track but in my opinion is very short and the guys of bariloche have still much to do with that. Catedral’s tracks are divided in 4 categories. Beginner, intermediate, advance an expert. In the first 3 categories you can found smooth tracks without rocks or any high jump. But on the other hand. The 9 expert tracks contains everything that a raider dreams. Rocks, a big slope of inclination, high jumps, wood bridges, and of course a little of smooth terrain. One better thing is that this mountain has chairlifts. So you only need $70. And you can use it all day. I think it’s a little expensive but it cost the ward
Well. Maybe you are thinking. But I have a family and they don’t like downhill, or, I want to teach my son but he hasn’t got a bicycle or a helmet. Catedral offers for you and your family a lot of activities, trekking for the mountain, fore and climbing, if you have children’s you can enroll in a kids club where they practice games a lot of funny activities. Of course near the mountain are the best hotels in all the Patagonia. With the best prices. And a little city nears the mountain when you and your family can have a lot of fun. If one of your sons or your wife is interested to start learning about this amazing extreme activity you can enroll it in the school of downhill, with martin cepi raffo as instructor. And of course you can rent all that you need.
Helmets, bicycles, etc.

So in a conclusion we can tell you that this a awesome place to practice downhill in summer, and of course snowboard and ski in winter, it’s a new place so they are still working to improve it. But there is no question that they have done an excellent job to highlight, the all wood track thath they built called “rustico”

Water reserves in Patagonia

After Antartica, Patagonia is one of the most important reservoirs of water. The southern ice fields constitute the third global fresh water reserve in the world, after Antartica and Greenland. This is due to the presence of the Patagonian icecap, that through snowmelting in the high Andean peaks, feeds lakes and rivers like: Negro, Colorado, Santa Cruz, De las Vueltas, just to name a few. These supply the region and could provide water to millions of people.
Although Patagonia is worldwide considered a water reserve and an intangible area inhabited by few, we see that we are not careful and squander our nature resources.
The world sees Patagonia as a nature treasure and it is a pity that only a few are willing to care for it.

Winter sports resort in El Bolson

In winter we all want to go to the mountain for a break at work or study but we usually don't know what to do if we don't practise any winter sport like skiing or snowboarding. In Mount Perito Moreno here in El Bolson, we offer recreation activities, for instance,  trekking to the Plateau or "Culopatin" that consists on sliding downhill on a plastic board.
You can go trekking to the highest track where you can enjoy sightseeing and maybe meet people from other excursions. "Culopatin" can be done whenever you want and it is all to enjoy with the family.
Regarding skiing and snowboarding, these are also an attraction because there are opened tracks to experience exciting ways to go down the slope. Eventhough you may have never done it, you should give a try! Accomodation is not so good as the activities that can be enjoyed in the mountain but it is very comfortable.
Mount Perito Moreno is a good option for the winter and the most enjoyable too. Though it is a small resort it has its attractions and you will feel at home and ready to attempt new experiences.

Mades of transport

El Bolson is an excellent choice for a vacation, it can offer you a large variety of places to enjoy most of them with amazing landscapes and more, but to be able to go on those great tours you need a means of transport suitable for the road or path you are going through.
There is a wide variety of means of transport you can choose from:

If your idea is to visit many places but you are not a waking person you should choose to rent a car. You should know than the roads away from the city center are in a bad state, so if you brought your own car but you don’t want to ruin it this is an excellent option. However, it’s not possible to access every place by car, there are some paths that are narrow and you can only go through by bike or four tracks

Another way of going arround in El Bolson is by bus. The one that goes from El Bolson to Lago Puelo in summer passes every 20 minutes, but during the rest of the year every hour, these bus stops only in the Av. San Martin in El bolson, and in the main road to Lago Puelo.
There are also buses that go to places like El Hoyo, or Epuyen that are worth visiting in summer because of lake and river Epuyen. To go to Mallin Ahogado you only have three buses, you can take them to visit the Cascada de Mallin, or go to Warton were the trails to the Cajon Del Azul, Hielo Azul, the Encanto Blanco, Lake Natacion and Cerro Lindo start.

Reviving the history of Butch Cassidy

Butch Cassidy was a notorious American train robber, bank robber, and leader of the Wild Bunch Gang in the American Old West. After pursuing a career in crime for several years in the United States, the pressures of being pursued, notably by the Pinkerton Detective Agency, forced him to flee with an accomplice, Harry Alonzo Longabaugh, known as the Sundance Kid, and Longabaugh's girlfriend, Etta Place. First he came to Buenos Aires (Argentina) where they settled in a hotel in Cangallo Street and deposited part of the spoils of their robbery of a train (12000 dollars) in the Bank of London. The thieves robbed two banks, one in Rio Gallegos (Santa Cruz) and other in Villa Mercedes (San Luis), and committed some more crimes.
In Cholila (located 70 kilometers south of El Bolson), Butch Cassidy built a cabin, which still remains. “I settled for ever” Cassidy wrote a friend in August 1902- “I have 500 cattle, 1500 sheep, 28 saddle horses, two laborers who work for me, plus a four bedroom house and other many things, United States were too small for me”.
In the mountain valley, the robbers found friendships and respect of several neighbors. Many tourists come here to visit the cabin of Cassidy and to get notice about this famous robber.
